For over 30 years, Fondation Béati has been a steadfast advocate for an inclusive and equitable society. Supporting initiatives that address systemic inequities and environmental challenges, Béati’s commitment to trust-based philanthropy and its strategic vision continues to shape Quebec’s community landscape.

The foundation’s approach, rooted in humility, transparency, and responsibility, strives to create lasting change by funding grassroots projects and building alliances that strengthen social and ecological well-being across the region.

The Mandate

Fondation Béati has embarked on a transformative journey with its new strategic plan. To facilitate that journey, they enlisted Third Wunder to redesign their existing website into an accessible, bilingual platform that embodies their renewed identity and mission.

Behind the scenes, Béati was looking for a solution to more effectively and efficiently manage grant applications, communications, and contact data. Traditional CRM frameworks haven’t been designed for philanthropic models, which meant Béati needed something customized to their particular use cases.

The Challenge

Béati’s website no longer reflected the energy and accessibility of their work. As they had already started the process of rebranding, this was an opportune time to revisit their site from the ground up. They had a vast content library that was difficult to manage, navigation was outdated, and their existing platform couldn’t scale to accommodate new partnerships or bilingual audiences.

Further, their internal operations relied on a hodgepodge collection of tools cobbled together to fill the gaps in the off-the-shelf systems available to them.

Our Approach

We understood from the outset that Béati needed a digital ecosystem built on their values of humility, transparency, and collective care. We took our cues from their trust-based approach to their work and developed a UX and content strategy centred on accessibility, clarity, and empathy. Every design and functionality choice was made with the use in mind to create an inclusive experience that welcomes visitors into Béati’s mission.

On the technical side, we paired our WunderTheme with custom HubSpot CRM integration to give Béati infrastructure that wasn’t just reliable, but could consolidate years of organizations, contacts and philanthropic financing details and evolve with the foundation’s expanding growth. By unifying previously fragmented systems, we enabled their team to manage relationships, projects, and communications from one place.

Building Fondation Béati’s new digital home

This project was more than just building a functional and modern website. Every aspect had to support how Béati wanted to show up on the web and in their work. From integrating new branding and improving accessibility to optimizing site performance and enabling autonomous content management, we created a human-centred platform that will grow with Béati.

  • Strategy and UX Design

    We began with in-depth workshops to define user personas and map audience journeys. Accessibility and empathy guided every design choice. The new architecture prioritized clarity and ease of navigation while celebrating Béati’s 30-year legacy through compelling storytelling and visual continuity.

  • Development and Accessibility

    Built on WunderTheme, the site was designed for speed, responsiveness, and WCAG 2.1 compliance. Every detail, from typography to alt text, was crafted for inclusivity and readability in both French and English.

  • HubSpot Integration

    We implemented a fully customized HubSpot CRM that unified 30 years of organizational data. This included importing and cleaning thousands of records across organizations, contacts, and project financing details, then designing new pipelines to track project funding submissions.

    The system now connects seamlessly with WordPress and QuickBooks, creating a single source of truth for Béati’s team while reducing reliance on third-party tools.

  • Training and Autonomy

    Post launch, we’ve continued to provide hands-on training and process documentation to ensure the Béati team can confidently manage content updates, contacts, and funding workflows without external support.

Learning Through Collaboration

Every organization has its own internal logic, its own pace, and its own way of expressing impact. For Béati, that rhythm is rooted in trust and long-term partnership. Translating those values into a digital environment meant approaching every technical challenge as a human one first.

Adapting HubSpot to the philanthropic context required both creativity and restraint. We learned to rethink familiar tools through a new lens, building not for transactions but for relationships. The process reinforced how important it is to listen before solving, to map systems around people rather than forcing people to adapt to systems.

We also refined how we approach accessibility and data stewardship. Complex migrations demand more than accuracy; they call for empathy and respect for the legacy behind every record. That awareness shaped how we organized, presented, and future-proofed information for Béati’s next generation of work.
