On Our Minds Get to Know the Wunders: Meet Emma, Our Wingwoman. Mila Gizli On Our Minds 5 mins read 10 months ago Are you itching for the opportunity to discuss your brand vision and long-term goals? Emma Wilkinson, Account Manager at Third Wunder, is all ears. She’s got a wide range of expertise from different areas of marketing. In-store to digital, Emma learned how to market businesses from the ground up. Now we’re flashing forward to the future. Translating it to the digital world, it’s not just about talking that talk, you’ve got to listen and learn to earn your place. In this interview, we learn the importance of trust between representative and client, open communication in the workspace, and active listening to be a better you. 1. What’s your Wunder role? As Account Manager, my role is to be the liaison between the team and the client. Facilitate communication, making sure things get done and, ultimately, that our clients are happy. 2. How has your career path led to the digital marketing sphere? As I got into the world of bodybuilding and competing, I put myself out there on the Internet. I was a digital marketing manager, worked at an agency for a little while, and was a receptionist turned executive assistant. Then came digital marketing when I went into healthcare. Just a little bit of everything: health and fitness-focused. 3. What would you say is the most effective way to form a trusted relationship between account manager and client? Trust is one of those make it or break it kinda things. It’s important to establish a good basis for trust from the first point of contact with anyone you are trying to build a relationship with, and I strongly believe the best way of doing so is by showing confidence. Whether in a face-to-face meeting, virtually or via email, the way I communicate demonstrates that I believe in what my team has to offer and that I’m results driven. 4. As an account manager, you need to show your client you’re engaged–but everyone should know how to listen to people’s needs. How does one perfect their active listening skills? Naturally, in a social setting, I’m more of a listener as opposed to a talker. I’ve always been that way. I listen and take in what people are saying, form an opinion, and express myself when the time sees fit. For those who struggle with active listening, you need to focus on what you want to improve on as a concrete reason to change your ways. Focus on breathing in the moment, being present, and not letting your mind wander too much when you’re in conversation. 5. You’re no stranger to deadlines. What’s your approach to juggling time management with satisfactory results? It’s about a delicate balance between keeping my team under minimum stress and keeping a client happy, satisfying their needs and deadlines. You’ve got to set realistic goals from the get-go. Now that I know my team a lot better, it’s easier for me to juggle those many tasks. It’s a lot easier to plan out each individual member’s needs and their schedule. Working tightly can always be shared and managed in that way as well. Communication is the key to everything. 6. Do you focus more on your fellow colleague’s individual work or collaborative teamwork? Why? Every project realized is never a solo effort. For successful output, we need each individual member to perform at their best and do their part for the bigger picture. Just that one little strength should be joined with others. 7. You’d most likely get caught doing ____ outside office hours. If I’m being completely honest, you’ll catch me in the gym A.M. and P.M. I’m a gym rat, forever chasing the glute gains. 🐭 8. Say your life had a soundtrack. What would the theme song be? Kygo’s remix of Younger (cause I’m manifesting seeing him this weekend at Osheaga.) 9. Tell us the best perk of working at a marketing agency. Go! I like that we’re all different people, sharing the weirdest content. We talk about a range of things, from world issues to food… we’re open and share everything. It comes with our specific work environment that makes everyone feel like we’re on an equal playing field. 10. Pick a fictional character or archetype that best represents you. Tinkerbell. I dressed up as Tinkerbell five years in a row as a child, and it was really well done, too. By the fifth year, that costume was solid! Share This Article Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Email
